(c) 2/7/12, Kathy Fannon; full moon setting out my back slider
It's rare in January to wake up to clear skies and a full moon. Well, not the full moon, but we just don't usually get to see it this time of year.
At 6:15 in the morning it is BEAUTIFUL! The sky is deep blue around it and the moon is bright with "light" and shinining in places of my home where the moon doesn't usually shine. And it makes the little bit of snow left on the ground look like it's glowing in the dark.
I could stand and look at that sight for hours and regret I can't take a picture of it.
As Christians we should be the full moon reflecting the light of Jesus. Jesus says in Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world."
Do people see the light of Jesus reflecting off you? Like the moon that has no light of its own, but only reflects the light of the sun, so do we have no light of our own. We reflect the light of Jesus.
Maybe some of us are half-moons. We try to live the life of a Christian but sometimes we get entangled in the things that hinder. Hebrews 12 tells us to "lay aside every encumbrance". We need to put off worldly thinking and put on the mind of Christ.
Some of us might be only a quarter-moon. We may have at one time made a commitment to Jesus, but really don't follow His ways anymore.
There may even be some who are like the time of month when there is no moon. We have completely fallen away from our Father. There is no longer any light shining through us.
If you have become anything less than a full moon won't you take a minute to recommit to Jesus, that you will let His light shine through you?
And if it's early enough, hurry and go look out your window! The moon is amazing this morning!
